Congressman Donald M. Payne - Proudly Serving New Jersey's 10th Congressional District

Health Issues

Congressman Donald M. Payne recognizes that adequate and affordable health care is a right that all New Jerseyans should enjoy.  He will be working with other Members of Congress on legislation that will expand and improve Medicare.  He believes that seniors should have a prescription drug benefit and that the government should negotiate for the best possible prescription drug prices for patients.  The Congressman is an advocate for the rights of patients to pursue legal claims when a HMO has been negligent.

Congressman Payne is also concerned with the problems that face the uninsured and the subsequent negative impact when people are not able to see a doctor regularly.  He continues to discuss health care issues with his constituents; health care providers, hospitals and New Jersey based pharmaceutical companies in order to formulate the best health care policy for all.

Congressman Payne recognizes the full impact of HIV and AIDS.  He has recently participated in a town hall meeting in Elizabeth, New Jersey in an effort to hear from constituents on how the epidemic has impacted the community.  He also participated in a UN Health Day at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center fostering an informative dialogue about the effects of AIDS on a global scale.

Your concerns and opinions about issues that impact you and your community are very important to me.  Please feel free to contact my office with any questions or concerns.
