Vice-President Gore is to be commended for his statement in Malaysia in defense of democratic reform and reformers in Asia. He can proudly stand by his words.
I hope the Vice President's outspokenness marks the beginning of a new phase in which basic human rights and democratic reforms are incorporated into the foundation of the Administration's foreign policy throughout Asia and, in addition, the rest of the world.
