Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that full funding for BART -- $84 million for further expansion to San Francisco International Airport -- has been included in the House appropriation for transportation, which was approved today by the House Appropriations Committee.
The San Francisco Representative, a senior Member of the committee, responded immediately: "Today's action constitutes a strong vote of confidence for tackling transportation problems on a regional basis."
Pelosi also noted the important role played by Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation. "Mr. Wolf has been a strong supporter, and we in San Francisco appreciate his consistent leadership on many transportation projects in our region."
Pelosi also said, "All of the projects approved by the Committee are critical to reducing pollution and managing traffic. Transportation funding that enhances the quality of life and sustains livable communities always deserves applause." San Francisco projects include:
