Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after Benjamin Netanyahu was sworn in Tuesday as Israel’s new Prime Minister:

“As Speaker of the House, I congratulate Benjamin Netanyahu on becoming Prime Minister of Israel and look forward to working with him and the new government.

“There is an unshakable bond between the United States and Israel. It grows out of our past and is strengthened by the fundamental values we share.

“Thirty years ago this month, an historic peace treaty was signed at the White House between Israel and Egypt, resulting in three decades of peace between the two countries. Reflecting on this anniversary is a reminder of the common cause the United States and Israel share – a safe and secure Israel living in peace with her neighbors.”
