$12.9 Million in HUD Grants to Fight Homelessness in San Francisco

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today announced $12.9 million in Housing and Urban Development grants to fight homelessness in San Francisco. The 1998 Continuum of Care awards support various programs administered by the City and other local organizations committed to assisting the homeless in San Francisco. "These grants fund important programs that provide supportive services needed to move individuals and families out of homelessness and eventually into independent living situations," Pelosi said.
The grant recipients include:
- City and County of San Francisco, $4,245,480;
- Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, $2,061,200;
- The Private Industry Council of San Francisco, $2,059,999;
- Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, $1,848,960;
- Compass Community Services, $1,042,878;
- Community Housing Partnership, $528,307;
- Friendship House Association of American Indians, $420,000;
- Mercy Charities Housing California, $411,600;
- Young Community Developers, Inc., $308,700.
In addition, the City of San Francisco will receive $891,000 for its Emergency Shelter program for FY99.
