Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today announced two Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) drug fighting grants totaling $3.04 million for the San Francisco Housing Authority. "Drug dealers are preying on the poor, bringing down our neighborhoods, and very simply making life miserable for the vast majority of law-abiding residents. These two grants represent a comprehensive, two year strategy which includes input and collaboration from public housing residents, community-based organizations, city, state and federal agencies," Pelosi said.
The two grants -- Restoring Our Future ($1.49m) and A New Day ($1.55m) -- are part of HUD's Public and Indian Housing Drug Elimination program. The grants can fund a variety of services including education, counseling and interdiction.
