Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today congratulated San Francisco's Convent of the Sacred Heart High School for winning the prestigious Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Award which was presented to school officials at a ceremony in Washington D.C. this afternoon. "Receiving the Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a national honor for a school that has a wonderful tradition of preparing young women to be leaders," Pelosi said.
166 secondary schools were chosen as Blue Ribbon Schools this year from thousands of competitors on the basis of criteria that includes high quality teaching; challenging, up-to-date curriculum; strong leadership; a sense of mission that is shared by all connected with the school; and a commitment to share best practices with other schools.
Rep. Pelosi's four daughters are graduates of Convent of the Sacred Heart schools.
