Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was elected ranking Democrat of the House Foreign Operations Subcommittee today. "I am pleased to continue my work on international issues including foreign aid, global AIDS, the environment, and human rights," Pelosi said.
As ranking member Rep. Pelosi will help build bi-partisan support for a strong leadership in international affairs for the United States.
Rep. Pelosi also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee for Labor, Health and Human Services and Education where she is on the front lines, battling on behalf of domestic priorities such as AIDS Research, Breast Cancer Research, Education, and Jobs.
Rep. Pelosi says Labor-HHS and Education holds the key to our children's future. "Our children deserve to learn in a safe and drug-free environment, to arrive at school ready to learn, to fully develop basic skills like reading and math, to have expanded access to new technologies, to be taught by well-prepared teachers, to support higher education and to learn the appropriate skills to succeed in the 21st century," Pelosi said.
Pelosi is also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (Ethics Committee).
