Media Advisory: Petri to Discuss Aviation Issues on C-Span Thursday Morning at 7:45 Central Time
Rep. Tom Petri, the ranking Republican on the House Aviation Subcommittee, is scheduled to appear live for 1/2 hour Thursday morning at 7:45 Central Time on C-Span's Washington Journal program. Petri will potentially discuss issues concerning aviation security, airline safety, FAA reauthorization, and air traffic control modernization as well as other aviation issues.
At 10 a.m. Eastern Time (for those in Washington), as ranking Republican, Rep. Petri will participate in an Aviation Subcommittee hearing on airline security. Among the witnesses will be Kip Hawley, Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This will be in Room 2167 of the Rayburn Building.

Woodland Fire Department Wins Grant
Congressman Tom Petri reports that the Woodland Fire Department will receive a $47,545 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The funds will be used to purchase new turn-out gear - protective pants, coats, boots and helmets.

House Passes Bill to Strengthen Aviation Safety
Washington, DC – By a 392 - 0 vote, the U. S. House of Representatives approved legislation Tuesday to strengthen Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety standards in order to ensure the United States maintains the safest aviation system in the world.

Great Lakes Compact To Be Introduced In House, Senate
WASHINGTON - Gov. James Doyle, Rep. Tom Petri and other members of the Great Lakes congressional delegation held a press conference in the Capitol Building Wednesday to promote the Great Lakes Compact, an agreement between their states to impose regulations and reporting requirements on large diversions of water from the lakes, and to mandate conservation programs to protect the region's water supplies.
