FRC AWARDS PICKERING “TRUE BLUE” AWARD
Pickering’s pro-family votes earn recognition from Family Research Council 

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Family Research Council Action and Focus on the Family Action have recognized Congressman Chip Pickering as a “True Blue” Member of Congress for his unwavering commitment to pro-family policies.

“The Members of the 110th Congress who received this award have been consistent, stalwart allies of American families,” said FRC Action President Tony Perkins.  “These Members are to be commended for supporting public policy that values human life, protects our religious liberties, and upholds the institutions of marriage and the family.”

“I’m honored again this year to receive this recognition for my votes which reflect my conservative philosophy and the conservative values of my district,” Pickering said.  “Among other issues, these votes protected religious rights, promoted the traditional family, rejected cloning and encouraged pro-life policies.”

The award honors Members of Congress who have exhibited extraordinary leadership and commitment to the defense of family, faith, and freedom, according to FRC Action’s new scorecard covering House and Senate votes during the 1st session of the 110th Congress (www.frcaction.org). Recipients of the award voted consistently for pro-life and pro-family issues.  Pickering supported all the pro-family votes scored by FRC, although he was absent for family reasons for five of the votes (but indicated his vote appropriately).

Perkins continued, “I applaud these Members for defending pro-family and pro-life policies that have been under attack this past year. Values voters should be encouraged by these Members who have shown a commitment to protecting and strengthening the family.”

Now Senator Roger Wicker from Mississippi also received the “True Blue” Award for his votes as Mississippi’s First Congressional District Representative.

Chip Pickering represents Mississippi’s Third Congressional District and serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.  This is his sixth term.
