Energy and Environment

Nearly everything we do today requires energy—from driving to work to cooking dinner. We consume so much energy that its production has taken a toll on our environment. We cannot do without energy, but we have to begin producing it in ways that protect our environment as well. Solar, wind, hydroelectric, and nuclear power are just some of the alternative energies we need to embrace to strengthen our nation’s energy security and clean up our environment.

America relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for electricity and transportation. Fossil fuels like these pollute, emitting so much CO2 that fear of global warming is now widespread. The right way to address this is through innovation, competition, and encouragement. Punishment, taxation, and heavy-handed regulation will simply harm the economy.
