Help Preserve U.S. Air Superiority

Dear Colleague:

United States air superiority is no secret, but we must not rest on our laurels.  The spring 1999 air offensive over Kosovo revealed many challenges in U.S. military capabilities – among them a shortage in electronic warfare (EW) aircraft and systems.  This shortage is a great concern as U.S. military supremacy in the twenty-first century promises to be even more dependent upon effective jamming and tactical electronic intelligence.

In response, we have established, within the House, a bipartisan Electronic Warfare Working Group to encourage awareness of, and support for, EW capabilities.  It is not our goal to advance the interests of a particular service or program, but simply to assure that concerned House Members have a clear understanding of what the issues and requirements are affecting the future of electronic warfare.

Attached is a copy of the EW Working Group mission statement.  It is our hope that you will join us in this important effort.  If you have any questions, or would like to join the EW Working Group, please contact Ken Miller in Rep. Pitts’ office (x5-2411), Rudy Barnes in Rep. Spratt’s office (x5-5501), Nancy Lifset in Rep. Cunningham’s office (x5-5452), or Andrew Hunter in Rep. Dicks’ office (x5-5916).

Sincerely,

Joseph R. Pitts
John M. Spratt, Jr.
Duke Cunningham
Norman D. Dicks
