Afghanistan

Twenty years ago, the people of Afghanistan freed themselves of Soviet domination through a decade-long campaign of resistance supported by the United States.  No longer a pawn in the Cold War, the world forgot about Afghanistan.  The result was another twenty years of civil war, religious fanaticism, and starvation.  Today, the people of Afghanistan have, with America's help, freed themselves from the yoke of Taliban tyranny and al Qaeda terrorism.  We must not turn our backs on them again.
