Congressman Pitts Announces Public Safety Grant Programs

Washington—Congressman Joe Pitts (R, PA-16) today announced the availability of two public safety grant programs administered through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  Further information follows. 

1.    Congress has provided DHS with $30 million to fund its Competitive Training Grant Program (CTGP) during fiscal year 2007.  These competitive grants are awarded to state and local governments for the development and delivery of innovative training programs addressing high priority homeland security training needs.  The application submission period for CTGP grants is now open.  Completed applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 EST on May 4, 2007. 2.    Congress has provided DHS with $33.7 million to fund its Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) during fiscal year 2007.  CEDAP grants provide smaller communities and rural areas with technology and equipment, together with training and technical assistance, to help enhance first responder capabilities throughout the nation.  The application submission period for CEDAP grants will begin on April 25, 2007.  Completed applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 EST on May 29, 2007.  Further information can be found at www.rkb.mipt.org.
