May 7, 2007 Congressman Pitts Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition Congressman Joe Pitts (R, PA-16) today announced this year’s winner and runners-up of the 26th annual Congressional Art Competition. The competition, called “An Artistic Discovery,” is an annual nationwide Congressional high school art competition sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus and initiated by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in their districts. This is the 10th year that Congressman Pitts has sponsored the competition in Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District. “I congratulate everyone who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” Congressman Pitts said. “The entries we received show the tremendous artistic talent of our local students. As someone who has taken an interest in art for many years, I’m glad to see so many students actively pursuing it. It’s an interest that will enrich their lives for many years to come.” This year’s winner is Katherine Carlton of Lititz. Carlton is a senior at Warwick High School. Her entry, entitled “Lancaster County Sunflowers,” was selected as the overall winner from Congressman Pitts’ district. Sullivan’s work will receive the honor of being displayed for one year on Capitol Hill where thousands of visitors from around the country can view it. The students listed below were selected as runners-up and will have their work displayed in one of Congressman Pitts’ offices for a year. NOTE: ALL ENTRIES WILL BE ON DISPLAY TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH FRIDAY, MAY 11TH AT THE OLD ARMSTRONG BUILDING, 150 N. QUEEN ST., LANCASTER.
