Representative Pitts Visits Local Schoolchildren

Congressman Reads House Mouse, Senate Mouse to class

Washington– Today, Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) visited Hillsdale Elementary School in West Chester.  Pitts, who makes regular visits to schools in the 16th Congressional District, read the children’s book House Mouse, Senate Mouse to the elementary school class.  The book offers a simplified explanation of how Congress functions including how laws are made.

Congressman Pitts’ statement follows:

“I enjoy visiting schools in Pennsylvania in order to engage young students in our civic process,” Congressman Pitts said. “Our representative form of democracy is only as strong as our citizens make it.

“I believe it is important to get kids interested in our government, how it works, and what effect it has on their lives.  This book has always been a great way to make a bit of an impression that will hopefully increase interest in our civic process.”
