Six Area College Students Learn the Ropes of Congress through Summer Internships with Platts' Office
Washington, D.C. - Six area college students are spending their summer learning about the realities of public service through 12-week internships with Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19). Coordinated by the 19th District Internship Association's annual program, the six outstanding students were selected based on their academic merits and their community commitment. Each intern spends six weeks in Washington, D.C. assisting with legislative projects, and spends six weeks assisting with constituent casework in one of the Congressman's district offices in Carlisle, Gettysburg, and York.
Summer 2002 interns are Andrew Herrold, a graduate of West York High School and a junior at Dickinson College, and son of John and Jan Herrold of York; Kate Klunk, a graduate of Hanover Senior High School, a sophomore at Dickinson College, and daughter of Warren and Jane Klunk of Hanover; Kevin Skjoldal, a Dover Area High School graduate, a senior at York College of Pennsylvania, and son of Ken and Kathy Skjoldal of Dover; Stephanie Austin, a graduate of Central York High School and a sophomore at the University of Virginia, and daughter of Steve and Donna Austin of York; Sara Gwiazdowski, a Central York High School graduate and a junior at Gettysburg College, and daughter of Joseph and Margaret Gwiazdowski; and Nathaniel Sloan, a graduate of Central York High School and the College of William and Mary, and son of Samuel and Linda Sloan of York.
