The minimum qualifying scores for the SAT Test are approximately 530 for Critical Reading and approximately 570 for math. Other academic and nonacademic achievements can overcome lower test scores. All candidates are required to submit a writing sample with their SAT and/or ACT exams.

The highest scores may be taken from two different tests; therefore, to be competitive, candidates are encouraged to retest one or more times. The following table shows the Combined SAT and ACT College Admission Test scores appointees have received in previous years:

Score Ranges Critical Reading/Verbal Math
700-800 (31-36) 26% 32.7%
600-699 (26-30) 43.8% 49.2%
<600 (<26) 29.9% 18.1%
