Congressional High School Arts Competition

Each year Members of Congress coordinate "An Artistic Discovery", the Congressional High School Art Competition. This annual art competition provides members of Congress with an opportunity to encourage and recognize the rich artistic talents of our young constituents. It is my pleasure to invite all high school art students in the 19th Congressional District to submit artwork for consideration in this competition.

An independent panel of judges from within the 19th Congressional District will evaluate our local submissions in early May and the winning piece they select will become part of an exhibition of winning pieces from throughout the country. The national exhibition of outstanding high school artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway leading to the United States Capitol Building. The first runner-up from the local competition will have his/her piece of artwork displayed for one year in my Washington, D.C. office.  Three additional runners-up will have their winning artwork displayed for one year in one of my three district offices.

My office will notify the winners and the winners' art teachers of the outcome. All other entrants will get a letter of appreciation for participating as well as instructions for the return of their submissions.

I hope you will participate in "An Artistic Discovery" this year. Please print out the guidelines (PDF document) for submission of artwork, as well as a Student Information/Release Form (PDF document)that must be completed with each entry. If you have any questions about "An Artistic Discovery", please contact Donna in my York District Office at (717) 600-1919 or Kate in my Washington Office at (202) 225-5836
