Pryce: Low Unemployment, Growing Economy Stem from Tax Cuts Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) released the following statement in response to the announcement that unemployment numbers dropped by .3% in each of the three counties she represents: “Central Ohio’s economy continues to hum. Under our tax relief policies, jobs are being created, unemployment is low, and the economy continues to expand at a remarkable rate. Once again, the evidence is clear: our economic plan continues to work, and I remain committed to continuing the tax policies that have produced this vigorous economic growth. “But I am deeply concerned that Democrats have taken affirmative steps to raise taxes and increase government spending, both of which will slow the economy and make us less competitive internationally. By refusing to renew the targeted tax policies that jumpstarted the economy, created more than 7 million jobs, and provided for three straight years of economic growth, Democratic leaders are busily preparing the golden goose for slaughter. “Since tax relief for families, businesses, and seniors was fully implemented in 2003, federal tax receipts have increased 35%, and 70% of the reduction in the deficit in 2007 resulted from the increase in tax revenue.” Unemployment rates for counties in The 15th Congressional District
