I would like to congratulate Sean Hicks of Hilliard Darby High School who won First Place at the 2007 Congressional Art Competion for the 15th District, and thank all the art students who participated in this year's event.

Sean's piece, entitled, "Alone at the Top" will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside artwork from other competitions around the country. The winner and two guests will be flown to Washington, D.C. for a gala reception.

Competition Guidelines

The size and category guidelines of the artwork that the students must follow includes:

  • Two-dimensional pieces only, which are no more than four inches in depth

  • Each piece must be no larger than 32 inches by 32 inches to the outside dimensions of the frame

  • Paintings (oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.)

  • Drawings (pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers, etc.)

  • Collage (must be two-dimensional)

  • Prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints)

  • Mixed media

  • Computer generated art

  • Photography
