WASHINGTON, DC—House Republican Conference Chairman Deborah Pryce (R-OH) today expressed her condolences for the families who lost loved ones in last week’s terror attacks in London: “Humanity has known many enemies over the centuries—slavery, religious persecution, political oppression—but none has posed such a threat to every walk of life, to every man, woman or child, as the enemy we face today. Senseless and evil, today’s enemy targets the innocent—teenagers at a nightclub, families on an airplane, mothers and fathers on their subway ride to work—simply because they are free, and because they love peace. “Today, London mourns. For Americans, the scenes of grief-stricken faces, missing loved ones signs, and candlelit vigils are only too familiar. Always having stood shoulder to shoulder, today Britain and America stand hand gripped in hand. We share in your grief, we send you our thoughts and our prayers, and we remain committed to rooting out our enemy in every dark corner until terrorism is yesterday’s threat and freedom is tomorrow’s promise.” Chairman Pryce joined fellow Members of Congress in signing a condolence book, as made available by the Office of the Speaker, to display Congressional support for those who lost loved ones in last week’s attacks. |
