Pryce Participates in Voice for
Adoption Foster Youth Program

Her Washington Office Will Feature Portrait of Ohio Foster Child

Washington, DC– Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) has joined with Voice for Adoption and the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Campaign in their efforts to raise awareness of foster children in need of permanent homes.

As part of National Adoption Awareness Month, Pryce will display the portrait photograph of Marteno, a thirteen year old boy from Columbus who is waiting to be adopted by a loving family. Similarly, Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH) will display in his Senate office the portrait of Marteno’s brother CJ, who is also awaiting permanent placement.

“I am honored to be playing this small role in such a noble, important effort,” said Pryce. “There are so many incredible foster children in our nation just like Marteno, who could bring a lifetime of love and happiness to a family. We are a deeply compassionate nation, and we should employ every means at our disposal to find a happy home for every child who wants one.”

Voice for Adoption is a national not-for-profit coalition that seeks to actively encourage and advocate for national policies that address the many barriers to the adoption of waiting children and increase the understanding among the public, the media, and decision-makers of the needs of these children and the families who adopt.

Pryce is a long-time proponent of adoption and serves on the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and the Board of the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy at Capital University Law School in Columbus. She led an effort in Congress to expand and make permanent an adoption tax credit to make the process more affordable for families and remove racial barriers to adoption.
