CONGRESSMAN HALL ON THE ISSUES
Immigration
As a member of the Immigration Reform Caucus, I will have an opportunity to work with my colleagues to develop a comprehensive immigration reform package. I believe in border security first. We must stop the flow of illegal aliens into the United States. If we don’t, our school systems, health care delivery systems and safety will continue to be compromised. The current law is not being executed efficiently. Our sheriffs, officers, and guards have too many loops to jump through to be able to do their job effectively, and it makes it much easier for the illegals to come through.
I think the only way to get any reliable count is to require a new and legal entry. They must simply return to their border and reenter with a card that has their photo on it. Only then can we properly identify the person who represents the card and the number on it. Once we have proper documentation of immigrants, employers who ignore our laws must be held accountable.
It is important that we recognize the significant contributions legal immigrants have made to the United States; however, I do not favor granting citizenship to someone for breaking an immigration law.
