RAMSTAD SELECTED ‘LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR” BY NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL

U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (MN-3) today received the “Legislator of the Year” award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Minnesota (NAMI) at its annual conference in St. Paul.

“This award recognizes a legislator at the state or national level who has been a leader and outspoken advocate for people with mental illness and their families,” according to Executive Director Sue Abderholden of NAMI.

“Congressman Ramstad’s advocacy for mental health parity and his strong support for the development of mental health services made him a clear choice for this award,” said Abderholden.

“It’s very gratifying and humbling to receive this important award, and I will certainly continue to lead the fight for mental health treatment parity and mental health services,” said Ramstad.

“The 54 million Americans suffering from mental illness need help,” said Ramstad, “and Congress should pass the mental health treatment parity bill now.”
