PACER CENTER PRESENTS ‘CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN AWARD’

TO U.S. REP. JIM RAMSTAD

U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (MN-3) received the PACER Center’s “Champion for Children Award” at the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration in Minneapolis.

PACER Center Executive Director Paula Goldberg presented the award and said, “Jim Ramstad has been a great champion for children with disabilities and a courageous leader for their education rights.”

Ramstad has been a strong supporter of full funding for special education in our local schools.  He has sponsored legislation to mandate annual increases of $2.2 billion in each of the next five years to reach full federal funding for special education.

“Full funding for special education will help children with special needs and provide much-needed funding for our public schools,” said Ramstad.  “It’s unfair to children and unfair to our public schools that the federal government has failed to fund special education as promised.”
