RAMSTAD HONORED BY NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL
WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (MN-3) received the “Exemplary Legislator Award” from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
Ramstad, who is a chief sponsor of the Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act, received the award at NAMI’s annual meeting in Washington.
Ramstad was cited by NAMI “for his leadership in standing up for people with mental illness and their families.”
“It’s very humbling to receive this award from our nation’s leading mental health advocacy organization, which represents 54 million Americans suffering from mental illness,” said Ramstad.
“It’s time for Congress to end the discrimination against people with mental illness and pass our mental health parity legislation,” said Ramstad in receiving the award.
“The American people should not be forced to wait any longer for Congress to knock down the barriers to mental health treatment.”
