Greets Teaneck's T'Keyah Turnbull in Washington, DC June 30- Last Thursday, June 26, Rep. Rothman welcomed T'Keyah Turnbull, a rising senior at Teaneck High School, to his D.C. office. T'Keyah thanked the Congressman for steps he has taken to make college more affordable. This July, for example, students will begin to see interest rates on their federal student loans decrease by 0.8% thanks to legislation Rothman helped pass, the College Cost Reduction and Access Act. Teen Safety Measure Passes HouseJune 25- Today, a teen safety measure introduced by Rep. Rothman overwhelming passed the House of Representatives as part of groundbreaking legislation to stop child abuse and neglect at private treatment facilities, such as teen boot camps and correctional boarding schools. Statement about the EPA Settlement with Companies to Remove Pollutants from a Portion of the PassaicJune 23- Today, Congressman Rothman expressed cautious optimism about the announcement of the first phase of a legal settlement between the Environmental Protection Agency and two companies responsible for polluting the Passaic River. This agreement calls for Occidental Chemical and Tierra Solutions to spend an estimated $80 million to clean up 200,000 cubic yards of toxic waste from a three-and-a-half mile stretch at the mouth of the Passaic River, with the payment and clean-up of remaining areas still under negotiation.
