(Wrightstown, NJ)—On Saturday, November 10, 2007, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) honored Veteran's Day at Wrightstown Town Hall, where hundreds of union members, veterans, their families and friends gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. Rothman was joined at the ceremony by Governor Jon Corzine, U.S. Reps. Donald Payne (D-NJ) and Rush Holt (D-NJ), President of the New Jersey State Building & Construction Trades Council, Bill Mullen, and other elected officials and labor leaders. The Building & Construction Trades Council hosted the event, which also spotlighted the union's successful 'Helmets to Hardhats' program.

"The sacrifice of our veterans is a debt we can never fully repay," Rothman said. "But it is one that we as a nation must continually work toward fulfilling: by giving them the respect they deserve and the benefits they've earned. Also, another way we can support our troops serving overseas is by ensuring that we have good-paying jobs available for them when they return home. That is why it is so important to support a program like 'Helmets to Hardhats,' which is doing precisely that for our veterans."

'Helmets to Hardhats' offers a range of services to transitioning military personnel, Reservists and National Guardsmen, including career counseling, test preparation, interview coaching and more, to help them begin careers in any of the fifteen trades affiliated with the Building & Construction Trades Council.
