Expressing Gratitude for the Sacrifices of New Jersey's National Guard and Reserves
March 24, 2008 Rep. Rothman met with and thanked First Lieutenant Frank Brogna for his service and expressed his gratitude for the selflessness of the thousands of members of the National Guard Association of New Jersey and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of New Jersey. 1LT Brogna will deploy to Iraq in the coming months with the New Jersey Army National Guard in the State's largest single deployment since World War II. Some Veterans May Be Due Tax Refunds
December 14, 2007 This week, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued a notice to the public that certain payments to disabled veterans are no longer taxable and that disabled veterans who paid tax on these benefits in the past three years can now claim refunds. Honoring Our Nation's Veterans
November 14, 2007 On Saturday, Rep. Rothman honored Veteran's Day at Wrightstown Town Hall, where hundreds of union members, veterans, their families and friends gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. Standing Up for WWII Veterans

March 9, 2007 "Aloof leadership, unresponsive administrators, and a culture of secrecy led to the problems at Walter Reed. Yet, after questioning the Surgeon General, I find it hard to believe that such a complete and utter failure in Army Medicine could be isolated to Walter Reedespecially when this fish is clearly rotten from the head. And so, I am asking all of New Jersey's current and prior service members in need of help to contact my offices. No problem, once identified, is too small or too large for me and my caseworkers to help you solve," said Rothman. Read more.
Meeting with American Legion
March 6, 2007 Lyndhurst veteran Mike Carroll met with Congressman Rothman to discuss funding for veterans' health care, the deplorable conditions at Walter Reed Medical Center, and upgrading the facilities at the Paramus Veterans Home. Also in the meeting were American Legion representatives Frank Calandrillo, Jr. of Mahwah, New Jersey and Bill Jennings of Great Meadows, New Jersey. Rothman, a long-time advocate of our veterans, is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, which makes recommendations about all federal spending. View photo.
Honoring Korean War Veterans in Hudson County
November 21, 2006 U.S. Reps. Rothman and Albio Sires (D-NJ) joined Hudson County Executive Thomas DeGise and the Board of Chosen Freeholders to honor 103 veterans with the Korean War Hudson County Distinguished Military Service Medal. January 30, 2006 New data show that the Presidents decision to ban priority 8 veterans from enrolling in the Veterans Administration (VA) health care system prevented 4,808 New Jersey veterans from receiving VA services. Calling this policy a shameful disgrace, Rep. Steve Rothman introduced legislation called the Honor Our Commitment to Veterans Act to reverse the Administrations policy on Priority 8 veterans enrollment. January 24, 2006 Rep. Rothman wrote President George W. Bush on behalf of veterans who are concerned about possible increases in their TRICARE health care premiums. TRICARE is the Department of Defenses managed health care program for Active Duty military, Active Duty service families, retirees and their families, and other beneficiaries. Reports from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. (VFW) and others suggest that an increase in premiums will be effective October 1, 2006 and fees will double for enlisted retirees and triple for officer retirees by 2009.
