Answer:

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has web sites that includes information about starting a business, and other important business start-up questions.

Question: Are there special programs for small, disadvantaged businesses?
Answer:

The SBA administers two business assistance programs for small disadvantaged businesses.

Question: What SBA funding programs are available?
Answer:

The SBA offers a variety of financing options for small businesses. The SBA's assistance usually is in the form of loan guaranties - the SBA guarantees loans made by banks and other private lenders to small business clients.

Question: Are there federal grants to start or expand a business?
Answer:

The SBA does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. 

While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments.   top

 

Question: Are there SBA offices in Wisconsin that can assist me?
Answer:

Yes, the SBA has offices in Milwaukee and Madison. You can set up an appointment to meet with an SBA employee to discuss items such as business financing, loan programs, government contracting, etc.

Answer:

The SBA offers free online training for Lenders and Small Businesses. In addition, there are SBA sponsored organizations that provide counseling and training programs.

Answer:

The Wisconsin SBA Office’s web site has information on application procedures, credit factors, collateral, repayment, and more.
