Question: My address changed and I need a new Medicare card. What do I do?
Answer:

Call the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778).

  • If you receive benefits from the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), call your local RRB office or 1-800-808-0772.

Question: What are Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Medicare Part D)?
Answer:

Medicare offers prescription drug coverage for everyone with Medicare, called Medicare Part D. To receive Medicare prescription drug coverage, an individual must choose a Medicare drug plan and pay a monthly premium. These plans are offered by insurance and other private companies approved by Medicare.    top

Answer: Please visit the following web site, select Wisconsin, and skip or select your county.  Scroll down to view the Medicare Prescription Drug and/or Health Plans available in Wisconsin.

Question: How and when do I Enroll in Medicare Part D?
Answer: Enrollment is open November 15 through December 31 of every year, and you can enroll online at: www.medicare.gov

Question: What should I do if I feel that I am not receiving the care to which I am entitled through Medicare?
Answer: Talk to your doctor and share your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the decisions made or the answers you receive, MetaStar can assist you in protecting your Medicare rights.

Metastar is a non-profit organization funded by CMS to help Wisconsin Medicare participants with concerns about the quality of care they receive. Any Wisconsin Medicare member (or his or her caregiver/representative) can contact MetaStar by phone at 1-800-362-2320.

Question: Who can assist me with specific benefit related questions?
Answer: Your County Senior Benefit Specialist, often called “Red Tape Cutters,” is an individual trained to help older individuals who are having problems with their private or government benefits. They can help anyone over the age of 60 who:
  • Wants to know more about any private or public benefit.
  • Needs help in organizing the paperwork to apply for benefits.
  • Has been denied a benefit they think they are entitled to receive.
