RYAN ENCOURAGED FOLLOWING MEETING WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER CHAIRMEN

Hopeful that Kenosha Plant will be Designated for New Engine Production Program

WASHINGTON - First District Congressman Paul Ryan today met with DaimlerChrysler Chairmen Robert Eaton and Jurgen Schrempp in Washington. As part of their discussion, Ryan expressed his desire that the company designate one of their proposed new engine programs for production at the DaimlerChrysler engine production facility in Kenosha. Ryan has been in contact with representatives of the Kenosha facility in hopes of making this designation a reality.

"I was very encouraged by Chairman Eaton's comments today," said Ryan. "After expressing what a new engine program would mean for the Kenosha engine plant, and for the workers and their families, he was very receptive to the needs of our community and maintaining DaimlerChrysler's continued presence there. Further, he assured me that we will continue today's discussion in the very near future."

Following their conversation, Ryan passed along a letter to Chairman Eaton reiterating his hopes that an additional engine program be produced in Kenosha. A copy of the letter is attached.
