RYAN JOINS DAIMLERCHRYSLER WORKERS & MANAGEMENT IN ANNOUNCING MAJOR INVESTMENT IN KENOSHA ENGINE FACILITY

"Today is great day for Southern Wisconsin."

KENOSHA - First District Congressman Paul Ryan today joined DaimlerChrysler management officials and workers, UAW Local 72 representatives, Governor Tommy Thompson, and Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian at an event to announce a major investment in the Kenosha engine facility. At a company event held today at the Kenosha plant, officials announced a $624 million modernization and expansion program. A 500,000 square-foot expansion to the existing facility is expected to house production space for a new engine designation.

"Today is great day for Southern Wisconsin," said Ryan at the event. "This announcement is due to the outstanding work product and the dedication put forth by the DaimlerChrysler employees here in Kenosha. Further, this announcement reflects the collective nature with which so many people rallied together to make this a reality."

"UAW Local 72 officials, DaimlerChrysler's Kenosha management team, Governor Thompson, Mayor Antaramian, Kenosha County Executive Alan Kehl, and hosts of others all worked together on bringing home the investment announced today."

Governor Tommy Thompson, Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian, Kenosha County Executive Alan Kehl, and other local officials worked with company representatives to provide incentives for DaimlerChrysler to make what will be the largest commercial investment in Southern Wisconsin in recent history. In addition, Ryan has lobbied company officials in Washington, Wisconsin, and Michigan to ensure that Kenosha was not overlooked in determining new engine designations. Last March, Ryan became very encouraged about the company's commitment to Southern Wisconsin after meeting with DaimlerChrysler Co-Chairman Robert Eaton.
