WASHINGTON - First District Congressman Paul Ryan today reiterated that, due to the continued closure of his Washington, DC office, constituents who want to communicate with him or his staff should call, fax, or drop by one of his district constituent services centers. All three district offices - Janesville, Kenosha, and Racine - remain open and ready to serve First District residents.
The House of Representatives office building in which Ryan’s Washington office is located was closed last week to allow a precautionary environmental sweep for anthrax to be done. It remains closed this week, pending the results of that assessment.
“Congress is back in session, but our office building and others are still off-limits for now,” Ryan said. “We’re making due by working off-site and relying even more heavily on the First District Constituent Services Centers. Constituents who want to share concerns or ask for help dealing with the federal government should call, fax, or visit one of these centers. They need to know that we are still hard at work and available to respond to their concerns.”
Ryan added that constituents who recently wrote to him and have not yet received a response should follow-up with a phone call or fax to one of his district offices, because he may not have received the letter. Certain Washington postal facilities have been declared “crime scenes”, increasing the chance that mail currently in the system will be subject to major delays or even, in some cases, destruction.
