Ryan Statement Regarding Anniversary of September 11 Terrorist Attacks
WASHINGTON – First District Congressman Paul Ryan today issued the following statement on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist strike on our country:
"A year ago, Americans watched in disbelief and horror as we saw our planes wielded as weapons against us by an unknown enemy. The year that followed has been a remarkable one. We have learned who struck us and how. Our government and military have worked at home and abroad to defend against our attackers and address the threat that terrorism poses to our lives and our freedom. Though we’ve made good progress, much work remains if we are to prevail against the terrorists who seek to destroy us."
"But the past year brought us more than heightened defenses and preparations. It also brought us greater unity, renewed patriotism, and example after example of Americans’ courage and perseverance."
"This September 11th, we remember the lessons of last year and recommit ourselves to the fight against terrorism. We honor the memory of the victims, and we look to the heroes of 9-11 for inspiration as we press on to the challenges ahead."
