Hails President’s Signing of Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
WASHINGTON,
DC – First District Congressman Paul Ryan attended yesterday’s ceremony at
which President Bush signed into law a ban on partial-birth abortion.
The House of Representatives and the Senate had previously passed this
legislation to prohibit abortionists from performing this brutal procedure.
Ryan today made the following statement about the signing of the
partial-birth abortion ban:
“Finally,
we have a law putting a stop to this atrocious, unethical, and wholly
unnecessary procedure,” Ryan said. “Partial-birth
abortion is indefensible from both a moral and a medical standpoint and poses
serious risks for women’s health. President
Bush did the right thing by signing this ban and defending the lives and
well-being of unborn children and their mothers.
This law recognizes partial-birth abortion for the crime that it is, and
the courts should uphold the ban.”
