Ryan Statement on Anniversary of September 11
Terrorist Attacks
WASHINGTON – First District Congressman Paul Ryan
today issued the following statement on the anniversary of the September 11,
2001 terrorist attacks on our country:
“On this solemn day, we remember the morning that
terrorists attacked our nation, taking over 3,000 innocent lives.
In their hate-filled attempt to bring our free society to its knees, the
terrorists gravely miscalculated. Instead
of crumbling, Americans have risen to the challenge to help one another and
defend our land and freedom.”
“Over the past two years, our nation has been at
war with terrorism on many fronts. Here
at home, we have strengthened our defenses, and this crucial work continues
today. Overseas, our troops,
working with our allies, have tracked down terrorists, destroyed their safe
havens and training camps, and brought freedom and opportunity to oppressed
peoples.”
“We will never forget the victims of September 11th
and the heroes who emerged during and after the attacks.
We must stay vigilant, and our resolve to fight terrorism must not
falter.”
“Our prayers are with those who lost loved ones in
the terrorist attacks and those who have lost family members and friends in the
War on Terrorism. We pray for the
servicemen and women now deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq and throughout the world
whose courage and commitment keep us free.
And for the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and everyone here
at home who helps protect our families and communities.”
“May God bless and guide America.”
