Reps. Ryan, Green to participate in U.S. House CWD hearing Thursday

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Mark Green (R-Green Bay) and Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) will join their colleagues from the House Committee on Resources Thursday for a hearing on their bill establishing a new unified federal strategy for dealing with Chronic Wasting Disease.

“If we hope to eliminate CWD back in Wisconsin – and across the country – it will take a coordinated team effort,” Green said.  “Our bill establishes the necessary framework to help federal agencies share their resources with folks back in Wisconsin.  This hearing will help us get answers to some important questions, and underscore the need for establishing a unified strategy in combating CWD now.”

“This hearing will put the spotlight on our legislation and help us ensure that the problem of CWD gets the attention and the action it deserves in Washington,” Ryan said.  “As a bow and gun hunter myself, I see how important deer hunting is to Wisconsin’s economy and culture.  We can’t let CWD rob us of this heritage and the jobs it creates throughout our state.”
