January 26, 2005 - Passage of the bill that would limit the number of congressional gold medals that may be struck by the Treasury Department in any calendar year to two, effective as of the date of enactment of the bill. The measure would stipulate that the medals could be awarded only to individuals, and would prohibit medals from being presented posthumously unless the recipient had been deceased for five years and then only for 20 years after that milestone.
