This is Congressman Ike Skelton.

Let me take this opportunity to say Happy Fourth of July to my fellow Missourians and to Americans who may be listening.

This is a very special day. For 233 years ago, the Declaration of Independence was signed and the beginnings of a great country were off and running.

Now it's our job as Americans, as Missourians, to keep our country strong and to keep it free. We're the freest land known to mankind.

A special word of thanks to those young men and young women in uniform, for they help us preserve our liberties. So let's say thanks to them.

Let's have a great Fourth of July, a safe one, and keep working together as Missourians and as Americans to keep our country free and safe.
