This is Congressman Ike Skelton.

The US House of Representatives approved a resolution commending the service and sacrifice of our Army's noncommissioned officers. I was honored to have introduced this resolution in the House and pleased that my colleagues joined me to recognize the service of the Army's noncommissioned officers.

Our nation's noncommissioned officers are unlike any in the world. While many consider them the backbone of the force, I believe they are really the soul of the force. The responsibilities that Army noncommissioned officers carry are vast, but they often carry out their responsibilities with little fanfare and little official recognition.

This resolution seeks to acknowledge their contributions and express the deepest appreciation to such officers who have served in the defense of our country. I encourage my fellow Missourians to join me in recognizing and honoring the role and contributions of noncommissioned officers, past and present. Such officers are the defenders of the American values that make our nation so strong.
