SNYDER ATTENDS MEXICAN CONFERENCE ON
ISLAM, TERRORISM, AND U.S. RESPONSES

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder (AR-02) returned yesterday from a Congressional conference in Punta Mita, Mexico on Islam, Terrorism, and U.S. Responses sponsored by the Aspen Institute Congressional Program from January 10-15.

Congressman Snyder participated in roundtable discussions on the policy implications of the following topics: "Islam: The Religion" with author and historian Karen Armstrong; "The Sources of Terrorism in Muslim Countries" with Daniel Benjamin from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, "The U.S. Responses to Terrorism" with Ned Walker from The Middle East Institute, "Is There An Opportunity for a Better Relationship With Iran" with Gary Sick from the Middle East Institute at Columbia University, and "The U.S. Role in a Post-Taliban Afghanistan" with Peter Thomsen from the Center for Afghanistan Studies at the University of Nebraska.

Congressman Snyder is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
