REP. SNYDER ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIPS

Little Rock – United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) announced today that his office is accepting applications from students in Arkansas’s Second Congressional District for month-long summer internships in his Washington, D.C. and Little Rock , Arkansas offices.

“These internships are a very valuable way to gain work experience while learning about the legislative process of our federal government,” Congressman Snyder said. “I encourage students in all areas of study to take advantage of summer internships not only to achieve a greater knowledge of representative government, but to improve their college education and become more competitive job applicants.”

Only a limited number of positions are available, so the internships are competitive. Students interested in applying must be enrolled in a post-high school educational system.

Those granted internships will receive a modest stipend, but students interested in a Washington , D.C. internship should be aware that living expenses there will likely exceed the stipend. Some students arrange with their school to receive academic credit for their internships. These internships are available year-round.

To request an application, students should contact Valerie McNeese at (202) 225-2506, or access the application form on Congressman Snyder’s official website at www.house.gov/snyder/services/internships.htm.

The deadline for applying for 2005 summer internships is Friday, March 18, 2005 . The Second Congressional District is comprised of Conway, Faulkner, Perry, Pulaski, Saline, Van Buren, White, and Yell counties.
