SNYDER ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR INTERNSHIPS WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder (AR-02) encourages
students from Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District to apply for month-long summer
internships in his Washington, D.C. and Little Rock, Arkansas offices.
Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the role of Congress in the
American political system. Students interested in applying must be part of a post-high
school educational system. There are only a limited number of positions available, so
the internships are competitive.
Those students granted internships will receive a modest stipend, but students
interested in a Washington, D.C. internship should be aware that their expenses will
likely exceed the stipend. Some students arrange with their schools to receive academic
credit for their internships. Internships for academic credit are available year-round.
Students interested in interning at one of Congressman Snyder's offices should
contact Valerie McNeese at (202) 225-2506 or access the application from Congressman
Snyder's official website at www.house.gov/snyder/services/internships.htm.
The deadline for applying for 2002 summer internships is Friday, March 15.
The 2nd Congressional District includes Conway, Faulkner, Perry, Pulaski, Saline,
Van Buren, White, and Yell counties.
