SNYDER APPLAUDS PASSAGE OF BLOOD CANCER RESEARCH ACT WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Representative
Vic Snyder (AR-02) applauded the passage yesterday in the U.S. House
of the Hematological Cancer Research Investment and Education Act.
Congressman Snyder is an original cosponsor of the legislation that would
amend the Public Health Service Act to provide funding for programs to
expand research and provide information and education to patients and the
general public about blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple
myeloma.
Blood cancers collectively are fifth among all cancers in incidence and
second in mortality. Each year, more than 100,000 in the U.S. will be
diagnosed, with 60,000 deaths annually.
The Senate passed the legislation last November. The bill now goes to
the President to be signed into law.
