SNYDER ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR JACKSONVILLE, BENTON PARKS WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Vic Snyder
(D-Ark. 02) today announced that the National Park Service has awarded
$346,050 in matching grants from the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)
to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for outdoor recreation
development projects in the cities of Benton and Jacksonville.
The city of Jacksonville will receive $231,050 to develop swimming and
support facilities and to renovate the existing Pleasure Park pool with a
new bathhouse, parking, and play equipment.
The city of Benton will receive $115,000 to develop Tyndall Park with
picnic areas, playfields, and support facilities.
LWCF grants help state and local governments acquire, develop, improve,
and maintain high quality outdoor recreation areas and open space, assuring
that the recreation opportunities provided will be available for all Americans
to enjoy in perpetuity.
