SNYDER CO-SPONSORS BILL ALLOWING TRAVEL TO CUBA WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Representative Vic Snyder
(AR-02) announced today his support for the "Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act of
2002" (H.R. 5022), which was introduced on the House floor this week by Rep.
Jeff Flake (AZ-01).
Congressman Snyder, along with the rest of the Arkansas House delegation,
is an original co-sponsor of this legislation that would allow U.S. citizens
and legal residents to travel between the United States and Cuba.
"I feel strongly about opening the Cuban market for our farmers, but the
most important product we can import to Cuba is a hunger for the American
dream," Congressman Snyder said. "The best way to do that is to allow
American tourists to personally interact with the Cuban people."
The bill was referred to the House Committee on International Relations
for review.
Congressman Snyder is a member of the bipartisan Cuba Working Group,
which meets regularly to review the effectiveness of current U.S. policy
towards Cuba and to develop an improved policy approach to the country.
