SNYDER HOLDING WORKSHOPS TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF RX FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
THROUGH MEDICARE
Workshops in Jacksonville, Searcy, Benton, Little Rock, North Little
Rock, Morrilton, Conway & Clinton
LITTLE ROCK – U.S. Representative Vic Snyder will hold workshops
in Jacksonville, Searcy, Benton, Little Rock, North Little Rock, Morrilton,
Conway and Clinton the week of August 8th to raise awareness of an approaching
deadline for seniors who qualify for extra financial assistance for their
prescription drugs through Medicare. Representatives from the Social Security
Administration, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Arkansas
Department of Human Services and the Seniors Health Insurance Information
Program will be on hand to answer questions and help eligible seniors sign
up for the program.
“For those seniors who are eligible, there is a program to help
them afford medications,” said Congressman Snyder. “I think
that these workshops will benefit many seniors, and I encourage anyone
who is interested to attend.”
There are over 50,000 seniors in central Arkansas that are eligible for
extra financial help with their medications under Medicare, but have not
applied to receive it. If a person makes less than $11,500 a year and is
single with less than $10,000 in savings, or $23,000 and is married with
less than $20,000 in savings, they qualify to receive extra financial help
for their medications through Medicare. The deadline to sign up is December
31, 2005.
Persons not able to attend this workshop may call the Social Security
Administration at 1-800-772-1213 for more information and an application.
