SNYDER ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR HOMELESS VETERANS IN LITTLE ROCK WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) announced today that the US Department of Veterans Affairs has identified Recovery Centers of Arkansas in Little Rock as an award recipient of the VA's Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program.
Recipients of the per diem are community and faith-based organizations, as well as state and local governments that provide critical services to homeless veterans. The funds are targeted to help offset the operating expenses of housing and services.
Recovery Centers of Arkansas will receive up to $26.95 per day for each eligible veteran provided care. The per diem will be used for transitional housing that will provide 20 beds for homeless veterans with substance abuse problems.
"There is still much to be done to completely meet the needs of homeless veterans in Arkansas. However, this award will make a real difference in the lives of many homeless veterans."
The VA's Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program will provide approximately seven million dollars in annual funding to 44 programs in 25 states. More information about VA's Homeless Assistance Programs and Initiatives can be found at http://www.va.gov/homeless on the Internet.
